  • Explore the most northerly capital in the world, Reykjavik

  • Marvel at other-worldly sites such as Reynisfjara, Dyrholaey, the Fimmvorduhals Trail, and countless roaring waterfalls

  • Bathe in warm geothermal waters in the hills and valleys surrounding Hervagerdi

  • Day 1 - Arrival at Reykjavik

The team must arrive at the airport three hours before their departure. Upon landing in Iceland, transfer to the capital, Reykjavik. The most northerly capital city in the world has plenty to see and explore. The team can spend their first day in Iceland visiting famous sites such as Hallsgrimkirkja and the Sun Voyager. Overnight at a campsite as you prepare for your trek.

  • Day 2 - Bus to Vik

Catch the early morning bus to the small coastal town of Vik. There’ll be plenty of stunning views as you travel east on Iceland’s renowned Route 1 passing glaciers, lava fields, and roaming Icelandic horses. Arrive in Vik and take some time to explore town. Then head to Reynisfjara, more commonly called Black Sand Beach, with it’s dazzling jet black sand and basalt columns. Walk along Dyrholaey to be rewarded with staggering views of Iceland’s south coast. The team can cook dinner before heading back into Vik. Catch the bus to Skogar and set up camp with the mighty Skogafoss as a backdrop.

  • Day 3 - Waterfalls and Trek

Take some time in the morning to enjoy the view of Skogafoss before the crowds arrive. This waterfall is one of the biggest in Iceland and due to the constant spray at the base of the falls, on sunny days a single or double rainbow will be visible. Your trek starts at Skogafoss, following the Fimmvorduhals Trail until you reach the mountain hut. If the weather is clear, you will have panoramic views of two of Iceland’s glaciers, Eyjafjollajokull and Myrdalsjokull. Return to your camp at Skogafoss following the route carved out by the Skoga River.

  • Day 4 -5 - Trek

Today’s trek will take you even closer to the glaciers as you trek to Solheimajokull that forms just one small part of Myrdalsjokull. Marvel at the magnificent beauty of the glacier and if the team choose, they can walk to the DC3 wreck on Solheimsandur before returning to camp for their last night by Skogafoss. In the morning, catch the bus heading back to Reykjavik and jump off at Hervagerdi. This small town is surrounded by numerous hot springs that support its agricultural greenhouses. Walk through town and into the Reykjadalur Valley to see the hot springs. Enjoy the natural warm waters before returning to Reykjavik on the bus.

  • Day 6 - Last Day

Your last full day in Iceland is going to be jam packed as you set off early in the morning for tour of the Golden Circle. This 300km route close to Reykjavik takes in some of Iceland’s most famous and popular natural attractions. Visit the geothermal area famed for the now-dormant Geysir but fountain geyser shows still occur every 4-10 minutes by the reliable Strokkur. Take in the thunderous roar of Gullfoss, Iceland’s most famous and striking waterfall. Explore Thingvellir National Park, the site of the world’s first parliament and one of the few places on earth where you can walk between two continents. After a whirlwind day of sightseeing, return to your campsite in Reykjavik.

  • Day 7 - Say goodbye to Iceland and return home

It’s time to pack up your camp and say goodbye to the Land of Fire and Ice. There may be time to explore Reykjavik one last time before heading to the airport for your flight home.
