We devise expeditions with the aim of making them both educational and pleasurable for the participating students. However, it must be stressed that our expeditions are still school trips and therefore school rules still apply at all times. Students are expected to participate in all of the phases of the expedition and are not to explore the local environment on their own without the permission of the Leadership Team.
The use of alcohol will be dictated by the rules which apply at school as well as the destination country’s laws. Adventure Lifesigns policy dictates that (subject to school sanction) alcohol in moderation between phases may be acceptable (providing written parental consent is given). Any consumption of alcohol which prejudices safety and the good order and conduct of the programme and its benefit to the expedition is unacceptable.
The purchase, passage or taking of non-prescribed drugs in any form whatsoever is strictly forbidden. Any case of this should be reported to Adventure Lifesigns at the earliest opportunity, and will result in the removal of the guilty party from the expedition.
As with alcohol, this will also be affected by school policy. Lifesigns strongly recommends that smoking is not permitted when at altitude or in eyesight of local children. Smoking in tents/hammocks is strictly forbidden for safety reasons.
It is unrealistic to expect that relationships will not occasionally emerge between students on expedition. However, the Leadership Team will take all reasonable measures to prevent it from happening. Lifesigns does not condone sex between participants and/or the indigenous population. It should also be made clear that it is dangerous and extremely damaging to group dynamics. Relations between participants and local children/vulnerable adults is strictly forbidden. The Leadership Team will ensure: male & female team members do not share rooms/tents.
Please remember that participants are ambassadors for their country. This will be enforced throughout the expedition by the Leadership Team.
Students may not purchase anything that would be considered illegal in this country. Any illegal items will be confiscated.
In general, chronic misbehaviour and/or disrespect will result in a “Yellow Card”, this is a warning that if their behaviour does not change they may receive a “Red Card”. Should the student demonstrate an extremely non-cooperative attitude towards the rules and make no effort to change their attitude, then he/she will be sent home at the parents’ expense.
We have read the rules above and agree to abide by them. We further understand that any infraction of the rules will result in the student being sent home at the parents’ expense.
The Coral Cay Conservation (CCC) medical form MUST be submitted to your Doctor/GP together with the accompanying PADI Medical Statement. Both forms MUST be complete before you return them to CCC – failure to do so may delay the final approval of your medical forms by the CCC medical advisor and could jeopardise your place on the CCC expedition. If you mark any of the items on the PADI medical statement ‘YES’ your Doctor/GP must provide CCC with additional information relating to this condition (history, medication, severity) and explain why this should not preclude you from diving (e.g. if you suffer from asthma your GP will need to include a Peak Flow reading).
Please Note:
You will not be able to complete your enrolment until your medical forms have been reviewed and approved by CCC’s expert medical advisors. Late submission of forms can lead to delays in this process. Often CCC medical advisors need to receive further information from GPs in order to make a decision on a participant’s medical state, this can take up to several weeks. To ensure that this situation does not occur, please return all forms at least one month prior to the start date of your expedition. CCC will not be held responsible for lost diving time due to late or incorrectly submitted forms. CCC undertake this measure to ensure the highest levels of safety for expedition participants.
